      पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र विकास मंत्रालय इस नये विज्ञान केन्द्र की स्थापना का खर्च उठाएगा। मंत्रालय ने इस निर्माण की शुरूआत के लिए 40 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित किये हैं। इस ऐतिहासिक अवसर पर जोरहट से लोकसभा सांसद श्री कामाख्या प्रसाद तासा, सीएसआईआर-एनईआईएसटी के निदेशक डॉ.एस चट्टोपाध्याय, अनुसंधान परिषद के अध्यक्ष डॉ.जी.एन.काजी, एऩईसी (पूर्वोत्तर परिषद) के सचिव श्री राम मुइवा नेशनल यूनिवर्सिटी के कुलाधिपति डॉ. परदेसी लाल मौजूद थे।

      इस अवसर पर डॉ. जितेन्द्र सिंह ने कहा कि पूर्वोत्तर में विशाल वैज्ञानिक भंडार हैं जिनका पता लगाने की जरूरत हैं और उन्हें खुशी है कि मंत्रालय विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग तथा सीएसआईआर की मदद से अनुसंधान को बढ़ावा देने के साथ-साथ नौकरियां सृजित करने के लिए तकनीकी प्रयोगों को संस्थागत करने के लिए आगे आ रहा है। उन्होंने आशा व्यक्त की कि नया केन्द्र युवाओं के लिए एक वरदान साबित होगा और पूर्वोत्तर के सभी 8 राज्यों और शेष भारत के लिए उत्कृष्टता केन्द्र के रूप में उभरेगा।
